Discovering and Using Your Gifts for Purpose and Provision

Hey there 🙂 

This week, I want to share a powerful truth: God has equipped you with unique gifts, and those gifts are not only for His glory—they can also provide for your needs. I’ve learned firsthand how God uses the gifts He gives us to bring purpose, fulfillment, and even income into our lives.

The Journey to Discovering My Gifts 

When I was younger, I didn’t believe I had any special gifts or purpose. I went to church with my family, but I didn’t understand the depth of God’s love and how close I needed to be to Him. I didn’t realize that having a personal relationship with Jesus would lead me to discover the unique gifts He had placed within me.  

As I grew closer to God, I still didn’t know what my gifts were. But everything changed one day when I accompanied my dad to a business event. A stranger invited me to his life group at church, and that was the turning point. I experienced the power of the Holy Spirit, cried (which isn’t something I usually do!😄 ), and felt a deep desire to serve. I ended up going to his church and though I wasn’t sure of my gifts, I started serving wherever I could—sweeping floors, packing chairs, and volunteering in any way.

At the time I had an Instagram page focused on self-improvement, but it wasn’t successful at first. Then, I met someone at that church who knew how to use a camera, and I asked my mom for one. At the time, I didn’t know how to use it and wasn’t even interested in learning. But that camera—given in faith—became the tool God used to help me discover my gifts.

I eventually had to learn how to use the camera when my friend left, and I began creating content for the church. That’s when I realized that creating videos was one of the gifts God had given me. And the best part? It wasn’t just for my benefit—it was a way to serve and provide for my needs as well.

Your Gifts Were Designed for Purpose 

Ephesians 2:10 says:

Remember God has already equipped you to make an impact. He has given you specific gifts, and those gifts are meant to serve others and fulfill His purpose for your life.

How to Use Your Gifts to Generate Income 

 1. Identify Your God-Given Gifts 

Reflect on what you do well. What activities bring you joy and fulfillment? Your gifts are often found in the things that come naturally to you, and God has placed them inside of you for a reason. Don’t worry if you haven’t found it yet I was 22 when I started using a camera but if you’re still unsure about your gifts and purpose and how it unfolds I created a video on that going through the 4 seasons that your purpose goes through:

2. Align Your Gifts with a Need 

Income comes when we serve others. Think about how your gifts can meet a need. If you’re great at writing, consider starting a blog or offering freelance writing services. If you’re good at design, think about offering your services to businesses or content creators.

3. Start Small, but Start 

Don’t wait for everything to be perfect. Take the first step, and trust that God will guide you. I started small—creating content and sharing my journey—and as I remained faithful, God opened doors for me to serve others and earn income.

4. Trust God for Provision 

Philippians 4:19 reminds us, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.” As you step out in faith and use your gifts, trust that God will provide.

Why It Matters 

When you use your gifts to serve others, you align with God’s design for your life. It’s not just about earning money—it’s about walking in your purpose and making an impact for His kingdom. When you step out in faith, you’ll experience a deeper sense of fulfillment and provision.
