How I Fell in Love with Reading Scripture
From "Checking a Box" to Loving the Bible

A message request I received
I don’t know if you are anything like me but I used to read the Bible just to say I did it. I’d read a chapter as quick as I could, check it off my list, and move on with my day. 😅 I didn’t study it, reflect on it, or truly let it sink into my heart. I just read the Bible because I knew I had to and honestly, it felt more like a task to complete than a relationship to grow.
But today, it’s completely different.
Now, I don’t just read the Bible—I study it. I’ll sit with my notebook, jotting down notes, reflecting on what God is teaching me, and letting His Word shape my life. I don’t see reading scripture as a chore anymore; it’s a joy. It’s where I go to meet God, hear His voice, and be reminded of His promises.
If you’re in a place where reading the Bible feels like a chore or you’re not sure how to connect with it on a deeper level, I get it. I’ve been there, too. Here’s what helped me develop a genuine love for God’s Word:
Pray Before You Start – Ask God to open your eyes and reveal Himself through the passage you’re reading.
Study, Don’t Just Read – Slow down and really dig into the text. Look up cross-references, journal your thoughts, and write down what stands out to you. (I love to use chatgpt and ask it questions when I don’t understand something 😄)
Change Your Perspective – The Bible isn’t just a book—it’s God speaking directly to you. Approach it with excitement, expecting to hear from Him.
Be Patient – Developing a love for Scripture takes time, but the more you stick with it, the more it will transform your heart.
There’s only so much I can share in this newsletter, but if you’d like to dive deeper into how I developed a genuine love for reading the Bible, I’ve just uploaded a video where I share everything that helped me make this change.
If you’ve ever felt the way I used to—reading the Bible more as a task than a joy—I highly recommend watching it. I believe it’ll encourage you and give you practical steps to transform your time in Scripture.
And if you find it helpful, don’t forget to subscribe to the channel! I’ll be uploading more videos soon to support you in your walk with God. 😊

I pray the video helps you to develop that love for reading the Bible that I found today
This week, I encourage you to reflect on Psalm 119:105:
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
Let this verse remind you that God’s Word is here to guide and illuminate your life every step of the way.
Have a blessed week ahead and continue to shine your light for Christ
Love,
Timothy 💛
